Workshop Series
- Improve Your Writing with Linguistics (four weeks)- This workshop will help you improve your writing skills by looking at the different building blocks of English, such as nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs, and show how and when they can be put together.
- Tuesdays 10/27-11/17 from 9-10:30
- Wednesdays 10/28-11/18 (no 11/11) from 1:30-3:00 (three weeks only)
- Getting into Grad School (four weeks)- Looking to go to grad school but don’t know how to get there? This workshop will help to get you on track. Topics include picking a school, your Statement of Purpose/CV, grad school funding, finding an advisor, preparing for and taking the GRE and more. It’s never too early to start thinking about the next step!

- Wednesdays 10/28-11/18 (not 11/11) from 9-10:30 (three weeks only)
- Scholarships – Where are they and how do I get them? (three weeks)- Need help paying for school? In this economy who doesn’t? This workshop series will make you aware of various sources for funding. We will also look at how to organize you search and tips for essay writing.
- Wednesdays 10/28-11/18 (not 11/11) from 12-1:30
- Improve Your Writing – Common Errors in College Papers(one week)- This workshop looks at errors that students commonly make while writing papers. These little things can be the difference between an A and a B paper. Come learn tips to avoid these mistakes and simple ways to improve your writing.
- Tuesday 12/1 from 9-10:30
- Improve Your Writing – Vocabulary (one week each)- These workshops will help you improve your vocabulary by studying root words, prefixes and suffixes. Learn how to take apart words and get meaning from them. For example, what is introspection? The root spect means to look, the prefix intro- means within and the suffix –ion means a condition or action. Introspection is the act of looking within. Each workshop (1 or 2) will highlight different words. This is great for anyone wanting to improve vocabulary skills and also for those taking the GRE or similar exams.
